Nelson & District Housing Society

Welcome to the Nelson & District Housing Society Web site. NDHS is a nonprofit society, founded in 1981, providing geared-to-income housing in the Nelson area. Our focus is on low income families, low income singles, seniors and people with special needs. We currently manage 105 units.

Robson Street House (now sold)

This was our first project and was in operation for over twenty years before we sold it to help finance our much larger Lakeside project. The attractive heritage house was home to four people with mental illness. Each resident had their own small suite and there were several shared areas.

Cedar Grove Estates

This attractive, affordable 40-unit housing project with a wonderful view was completed in 1992. It includes 18 town houses for families and 22 single bedroom apartments for seniors.

Copper Mountain Court

In April 2000 we started construction of a new 37-unit family housing complex in conjunction with BC Housing. In February 2001 the tenants moved in.

In a beautiful setting adjacent to a golf course and a wooded park, Copper Mountain Court features underground parking, an elevator, and a playground for children.

Lakeside Place

In cooperation with other groups and various funding agencies, we purchased and extensively renovated a former motel and added a new eight-plex. The project was finished in 2001.

This complex, adjacent to a waterfront park, now provides a total of 28 low cost housing units for families and singles, including those with mental illness. For more information and a large panoramic image click here.
